With fingers crossed, Massachusetts has seen its last snow day and warmer weather is here to stay. As residents all across the state look forward to the warmer months ahead, now is a great time to get started on some of the seasonal homeowner responsibilities. Not sure where to start? Schedule your annual AC tune-up today.
Preventative maintenance is not unique to HVAC systems. We should have our cars regularly maintained to reduce the probability of a breakdown. We should have annual appointments with doctors to ensure our own physical wellness is maintained. Annual maintenance appointments are important so your cooling system functions effectively and efficiently while extending the lifespan of your air conditioner.
Here are 5 benefits of getting an AC Tune-Up
Check out one of our previous blogs where we go into more detail about these benefits.
- Increased Energy Efficiency
- Decreased Energy Bills
- Increased Comfort
- Decreased Repairs
- Increased Lifespan of System
Signs your AC needs maintenance?
Let’s look at some common red flags that might indicate your AC unit is in need of some TLC from our service team:
-
Strange Noises
You expect some noise to come from your air conditioner, and if it sounds like a light whooshing then it is probably running as expected. If you hear buzzing, rattling or banging, that suggests your AC unit is in need of repair. If you hear a humming sound that is obviously different from what you normally hear you could have some loose hardware. If the unit is hissing, this could be a sign of an internal valve leak or too much internal pressure on the compressor. If your A/C unit is squealing, you may need to have a fan belt replaced. If something doesn’t sound right it’s important to get it checked out.
-
Smelly Odors
Is there a bad smell in your home that gets worse when your air conditioner is on? This odor could be caused by mold or mildew from excess moisture in your HVAC system. With annual maintenance we will clean and check the components of your cooling system to ensure it is functioning properly and is free from odor causing pollutants.
-
Poor Air Flow
By simply turning on your AC, you will know if your unit has poor air flow. The combination of clogged and old air filters often leads to congestion in ventilation. During routine preventative checks, our experts always check air filters and either replace or clean them based on what is necessary at the time.
